The Pi Upsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation (PULCF) was established in June 1994 by members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Pi Upsilon Lambda Chapter. Alex Bailey, B.S., M.A., J.D., is the visionary founder of the Pi Upsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation. The Foundation’s purpose is to acquire funds to be distributed as scholarship to students and support education, community and scholarly purposes. The Foundation’s purpose is to acquire funds to be distributed as scholarships to deserving students graduating from Prince George’s County high schools who plan to attend college. Scholarship awards are based on need and scholastic achievement. The Foundation is empowered to conduct all legal activities associated with raising funds to be distributed as scholarships. The Foundation’s initial assets were generated from a boat ride on the Spirit of Washington in 1994 and have been enhanced by proceeds from golf tournaments, chapter Black and Gold Balls and other fundraising activities since that time. To date the Foundation has awarded over $240,000 in scholarships to over 210 students (2022). Mr. Paul Brown, currently serves as the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Mr. Trey Scott serves as the President of the Foundation.
