Chartering PUL

The Pi Upsilon Lambda Chapter (PUL) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated was founded in 1993 during the General Convention in New Orleans. Initiated by seven Brothers considered the chapter catalysts, the chapter was charted by a record 61 Brothers. The charter was signed by General President Milton C. Davis and Executive Director James “Tiny” Blanton, and PUL has been active in community service, education, and leadership roles since then.

PUL’s commitment to community service and education led to initiatives such as college financial aid workshops, mentoring programs, and voter education seminars. The chapter established the Alpha Phi Alpha Pi Upsilon Lambda Charitable Foundation, which has granted over $240,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors and organized a Men’s Health Forum. PUL members have held significant leadership positions within the fraternity, contributing to regional and national levels and even playing a role in creating the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC.

“We were serious young men distraught by the problems of our period.”
